Hello! We’re excited that you’re considering a performance in our space. Please read the following fully before applying:
About us: We’re a small lessons studio & instrument-making shop, and we have a cozy spot for music with great acoustics. Shows feel good with an audience of twenty, full with forty and crowded at sixty. The biggest crowd we’ve ever had was about 110, but that was pre-COVID and pretty uncomfortable. We can accommodate bands of up to about seven members, depending on instrumentation (if you’re all playing the double bass, we’re going to have to get creative).
All our concerts are intimate listening shows. We strongly encourage acoustic performance – the room is lively and projects well, and the audience will be seated quite close to you. If you’d like to use a PA, you may, but we don’t have a house system.
Due to our lessons schedule, we can usually only accommodate concerts on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Most of our shows have a suggested donation (often a range, like $16-24) which gets collected in a jar by the door or via Venmo. You’re welcome to bring and sell merch. We try and make our space as musician-friendly as possible, and we ask 20% of the net proceeds (just from the door, not merch).
Since we’re really an instrument-making shop that moonlights as a venue, we have limited time to devote to publicity. That’s even more true these days, since I have two small kiddos and parenthood is great, but sure does turn my brain to porridge. We’ll include the event on our mailing list, hang posters in our windows and plug it at other shows, but getting a good turnout depends more on you. We do ask just that you consider that fact earnestly, because it’s no fun for anyone to play for an empty space. If you’re less confident about your Baltimore following and/or don’t have much time to do publicity, we may be able to connect you with a local act as a double bill.
So, if that all sounds good, go ahead and drop us a line! I know the feeling of sending messages out into the void and so we do try and respond to every inquiry, but it might take a minute.
